Introduction
The Nigerian Copyright Commission offers a platform for creators of copyrighted works, such as literary works, musical works, artistic works, cinematographic films, and sound recordings, or persons who have acquired rights in these works to register them online through the Nigerian Copyright e-Registration System (NCeRS) to protect their assets.
What you need
- Copies of the work you wish to register, such as manuscripts, recordings, designs, etc.
How to apply
- Visit the NCeRS portal at http://www.eregistration.copyright.gov.ng and click ‘Create an Account.’
- Complete the account creation form using a valid email address and submit.
- Use the login details sent to your email to sign in to the portal and click ‘Register a New Work.’
- Complete all sections of the form and submit.
Payment
The applicable fees are: copyright registration/registration of transfers: N10,000.00; issuance of a certified true copy of the certificate: N5,000.00; issuance of a certified true copy of form: N5,000.00; and issuance of a certified true copy of a work (paper-based only) is N5,000.00 for works below 50 pages, N7.500.00 for 50 – 100 pages, N10,000.00 for 101 – 200 pages, N15,000.00 for works above 200 pages and N5,000.00 for corrections and changes in submitted data. Fees may be paid in Naira or US Dollars for applications outside Nigeria via remita.
