How to file a complaint with the CBN against your bank

If you are experiencing unresolved issues with your bank, such as unfair or unexplained charges, poor customer service, or unauthorized transactions on your accounts (either through bank transfers or ATM withdrawals), you can follow these steps to file a complaint with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN):

  • First, visit your bank to lodge a formal complaint. Ensure you receive an acknowledgment of your complaint with a tracking number.
  • If the issue is not resolved within 2 weeks, escalate the matter to the Consumer Protection Department of the CBN via email at cpd@cbn.gov.ngcontactcbn@cbn.gov.ng, or call 07002255226. Provide details of your complaint with the tracking number issued by your bank.
