- Bank Verification Number (BVN) for an individual account
- Agent ID (Declarant Code) for an agent account
- Active email address and phone number
How to register
For registration by an agent
- Visit https://vreg.gov.ng/ and click ‘Sign Up’ to create a VREG account. Choose “Agent Account” (for registration of vehicles before clearance in the trade window), enter your Agent ID, and click submit.

- To register multiple VINs, first download the sample Excel sheet by clicking the “Download sample Excel file” button. Fill out the sheet with the vehicle VINs, HS Codes, and descriptions, then upload the file by clicking ‘Upload an Excel Document’ on the dashboard to register.
- After confirmation, click “Proceed to Payment” to generate a One-Time Password (OTP) that will be sent to your email along with a payment summary page containing the OTP input field.
- Enter the OTP received and click “Verify OTP” to enable the “Make Payment” button. Then click “Make Payment” to automatically generate an invoice for you to pay using the available payment options.
- Upon successful payment, an automatic VREG registration confirmation will be generated, containing quick links to view the VREG certificate or return to the user dashboard.

For in-country registration (existing vehicles)
- For existing vehicles, the registration of the VIN onto VREG starts at the Motor Vehicle Licensing Authority (MVLA) portal, where a code is generated for vehicles not registered with VREG. You will be redirected to the VREG portal after a code has been generated from the MVLA registration portal.
- Select ‘Register with Code’ on the VREG portal, enter the code received, and click ‘Proceed.’
- Enter the vehicle details, including VIN, Brand, Model, and Year, then click ‘Proceed’ to pay using the invoice and reference numbers.
- Upon successful payment, the VREG number will be generated, and you can return to the MVLA registration portal to proceed with license registration and renewal.
Payment
The VREG levy depends on the size of the vehicle and is payable online.
