Introduction
If you are looking to obtain a post office box, the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) provides an easy online registration process for customers who receive a large volume of mail daily and are prepared to accept delivery or collection at least once a day.
What you need
- Active phone number and valid e-mail
How to apply
- Visit the NIPOST portal at https://ipms.nipost.gov.ng/nipost/Default.aspx and click “Apply for Post Letter Box” under the Post Letter Box section.
- Choose your post office name.
- Select the type of box or mailbag you require.
- Review the charges on the right-hand side.
- Check the availability of the box, and click yes to continue if available.
- Enter your details (only individuals aged 18 years and above can apply for a Private Letter Box/Private Mail Bag).
- Submit your details.
- Print your acknowledgment slip.
- A reference number will be sent to you to track the status of your application.
- An SMS and transaction reference number will be sent to you if your application is approved
- Use the transaction number to make payment at the nearest post office
- Verify your payment information.
- Track the payment status.
Payment
The fees for a post office box vary depending on the location and typically include the annual rental, key deposit/bag lease procurement, late fees (if applicable), ID card charges, VAT, stamp duty, and SMS charges.
