Introduction
A police clearance certificate, also called a police character clearance (PCC), is an official document issued by the Nigerian police. It is available to Nigerian citizens and foreigners who have lived in Nigeria for a minimum of 30 days. The certificate provides information about an individual’s criminal record status in Nigeria and is valid for three months.
What you need
- National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN)
How to apply
- Visit the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal at https://possap.gov.ng/.
- Click ‘Request a Service’ or ‘Get Started’.
- Select ‘Individual’ and choose ‘Police Character Certificate’ from the options provided.
- Fill in the form with your information and click ‘Proceed’.
- Confirm your details and submit the request.
- Make your payment on the platform based on the invoice provided.
- Schedule and attend a biometric capture at the nearest police criminal registry, along with your payment receipt and the confirmation code received after your application.
- Your application will be reviewed, processed, and sent to your email once completed.
Payment
The fee for the Police Clearance Certificate is N30,000.00. Pay the required fee online through the payment gateway provided on the portal.
