Apply for ECOWAS residence card


Introduction

The ECOWAS Residence Card is an important document for residents within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). In Nigeria, applying for the ECOWAS Residence Card facilitates legal residence and mobility across member countries. Applicants are expected to receive their card within 48 hours of application.

What you need

  • Application letter for the ECOWAS Residence Card from the individual, employer, embassy, high commission, or diaspora union accepting immigration responsibilities.
  • ECOWAS travel certificate or national passport valid for at least 6 months.
  • Photocopy of the bio-data page of the ECOWAS travel certificate or national passport.
  • Two (2) copies of the applicant’s recent passport photograph.
  • Evidence of e-payment (i.e., printed payment confirmation page).
  • Duly completed and signed application form.
  • Employees must provide copies of their letter of offer of employment, letter of acceptance of offer of employment, the applicant’s credentials/CV (where applicable), and evidence of registration with professional bodies (where applicable).

How to apply

  • Complete the ECOWAS Residence Card application form online at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/ecowas/ecowas/.
  • Make payment online and obtain an application ID and reference number.
  • Submit the completed ECOWAS Residence Card application form with other requirements at the immigration office chosen during the online application.

Payment

The fee for the ECOWAS Residence Card is N25,000.00 for Togolese, N6,580.00 for Côte d’Ivoire citizens, and N500.00 for other ECOWAS citizens, payable only.
